Pakistan World Cup 2019 Squad: Pakistan have announced their preliminary 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 scheduled to be held in England & Wales.

Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the team in the World Cup 2019. Pakistan clinched the Champions Trophy title couple of years back in England under his captaincy. He will get some valuable support by the other two most senior players in the squad, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. Both these players have been going through a bad phase with the bat but their experience will help a lot to this young Pakistani team at this very big stage.

The inclusion of Mohammad Hafeez in the squad is subject to fitness. With six weeks still remaining in the 2019 World Cup, Hafeez is expected to be completely fit.

The selection committee headed by former cricketer, Inzamam Ul Haq, made a shocking exclusion and left out Mohammad Amir from the squad. However, he has been picked in the 17-member squad, for their upcoming England tour and he can still make it to the final squad considering this is the ‘preliminary’ 15-member squad. The selectors decided to go with the experienced, Junaid Khan instead of Mohammad Amir.

Apart from Mohammad Amir, Asif Ali is also included in the 17-member squad to face England and have been excluded from the 15-member World Cup squad.

Youngster Abid Ali also makes his way into the World Cup squad. He had a dream start of his international career in their latest series against Australia and scored a hundred on his debut. Apart from them, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam-Ul-Haq will lead the batting department of the Pakistani team.

As expected, the duo of Mohammad Hasnain and Shaheen Shah Afridi, have also been included in Pakistan’s world cup squad. Despite the absence of Mohammad Amir, their pace attack looks dominant.
Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan will head the spin bowling department for the Pakistani team in the world cup. Faheem Ashraf, the bowling all-rounder could also be handy for the team.
