New Zealand World Cup 2019 squad: On Wednesday morning New Zealand announced their 15 man squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 which will be held in England and Wales.
Kane Williamson will lead the NZ team in ICC WC 2019. Ross Taylor is also the part of Blackcaps team. It will be his fourth world cup and he will be the seventh player in the world to have featured in four World Cups. Blackcaps squad for World Cup 2019 consists of 7 Batsman, 3 All-rounders, and 5 Bowlers.
“Doesn’t feel like 2007 was that long ago being named in my first World Cup squad, special to be here for a fourth time and to see Henry get named in his first. Can’t wait to get to… https://t.co/sPrehDZZ1M“, Ross Taylor posted on Twitter.
The biggest surprise in the NZ World Cup squad is the inclusion of Wicket-Keeper Batsman Tom Blundell who is yet to play his first game in ODI. He has been included in place Tim Seifert, who has been excluded because of his broken finger.
Tom Blundell is uncapped in ODI but has played Test and T20s for New Zealand. He has one hundred in his name in Test for the Blackcaps. His domestic record with the ball is decent he averaged 23.81 in his 40 games.
Doug Bracewell who played in the last series against Bangladesh has also been left out from the NZ ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 squad. Leg spinner Ish Sodhi was picked over Todd Astle who has featured in the Black Caps the last series against Bangladesh. Ish Sodhi is the only specialist leg spinner in the New Zealand WC squad for 2019 ICC CWC.
